Lady Meryl Dances & Sings All The Way to the Bank, Literally

Meryl Streep is getting ready to be seen on screen again with the big screen production of Mamma Mia!-a film adaptation of the successful broadway musical based off the music of the legendary dance band, ABBA. Not only does Lady Merly look dazzling, she also dances and sings! I haven’t been this happy since seeing her in A Prarie Home Companion. Though I’m sure it will pale to her performance in Death Becomes Her, the movie looks very promising! It appears 2008 looks bright for the acting tycoon. Take a look for yourselves: Mamma Mia! After last year’s box office disasters and critically ravaged films, Rendition (with Reese Witherspoon) and Lions for Lambs, Lady Meryl is in need of a good turnaround. Mamma Mia! just might be the ticket to do the trick!For the record, I unfortunately have not seen the aforementioned films, but once they come to DVD, I’ll have my grubby, little hands all over them. Rest assured, my dears. Most anything Meryl stars in is worth more than gold to me, so don’t expect much of an “objective” critique from me. I will say, however, that Rendition did especially bad, grossing less $9.8 million domestically, and being pulled after only four short weeks! It was pretty disheartening to uncover.
Back to a brighter note…
Mamma Mia! isn’t the only film 2008 has in store for us, either! According to IMDB.com, Lady Meryl is currently filming one movie right now, Doubt, while one is in production, Julie & Julia, and two others, Dirty Tricks and A Question of Mercy, are in pre-production. We should definitely see Doubt and Dirty Tricks year, though my heart eagerly awaits Lady Meryl’s highly anticipated transformation as the famous, French chef Julia Child!
Can you believe it? She’s going to play the statuesque, contorted cook we all once loved-or hated-back in the day! However, we won’t see that one until 2009, according to IMDB.
